Explosions are shown quite well with many levels ranging from small explosions caused by hand grenades, explosive shells on grenade launchers, or more “heavy” to the explosion caused by 250kg bombs dropped from aircraft… with varying degrees of destruction. For example, when an armored vehicle loses its chain when a bullet hits it or when it encounters an infantry mine, a tank is “blown away” by its turret when an ammunition box explodes…Įxplosion effects are an important part of the game for war games like Sudden Strike 4. All are shown extremely sharp with many context models for each specific situation. You will discover dozens of vehicles and weapons that can be controlled in the game, from heavy tanks to even old-fashioned rattle farmers. Overall, the graphics of Sudden Strike 4 are developed in a realistic direction with many meticulously designed and detailed models. The development team of Kite Games is not trying to create their engine, but looking to the powerful multi-platform graphics engine Unity to make the most epic and realistic battles shows that this choice is completely correct. That is even a shortcoming of the third version of the series when the “cultivator” engine is difficult to show the fierceness of the war compared to competitors of the same year such as Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes: The Opposing Fronts, or World in Conflict. Sudden Strike 4 is a real-time strategy game (Real Time Tactics), so the bloody fighting phase is certainly the highlight of the whole game.
